Central Noble Softball Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Westview

By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Thursday, as Central Noble Varsity Cougars grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Westview. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Kaitlyn Tilley doubled, scoring one run. Grace Swank struck out 18 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also allowed six hits and three runs over eight innings while walking none. Central Noble Varsity Cougars got on the board in the second inning after Gwen Swank tripled, scoring two runs. Central Noble Varsity Cougars added one run in the third. Katie Forker singled down the right field line, making the score 3-0. Westview tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a double by B Garret, and a single by A Dichl. B Bontrager took the loss for Westview. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering four runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out seven and walking seven. Swank led Central Noble Varsity Cougars with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Chelsea Fleshman went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Central Noble Varsity Cougars in hits. Swank paced Central Noble Varsity Cougars with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Swank threw an immaculate inning in the first, striking out the side on nine pitches. J Lehman and Garret each collected two hits for Westview. Garret and Dichl were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Westview.
