Varsity Softball Powers Through Fremont

By GameChanger Media Grace Swank hit two home runs and drove in three as Central Noble Varsity Cougars defeated Fremont 11-1 on Tuesday. Swank homered in the fifth and first innings. Swank struck out 15 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also surrendered one hit and one run over six innings while walking four. A solo home run to left field by Swank put Central Noble Varsity Cougars on the board in the bottom of the first. Central Noble Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Chelsea Fleshman walked, and Katie Forker grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Central Noble Varsity Cougars added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on six hits. Swank homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Ahyden Wabika singled, scoring two runs. A Kaiser took the loss for Fremont. The pitcher went five innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out four and walking four. Swank, Forker, and Kaitlyn Tilley each collected two hits for Central Noble Varsity Cougars. Fleshman led Central Noble Varsity Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Central Noble Varsity Cougars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Wabika had the most chances in the field with 12. D Shyder went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Fremont in hits.
