Cougar Tennis Fall to Bethany Christian

The Central Noble girls tennis team faced a tough test against Bethany Christian, falling 4-1 in varsity play while the junior varsity squad dropped a 7-0 decision. The lone highlight for the Cougars came at No. 1 singles, where Kayla Kreger delivered an impressive comeback victory. After dropping the opening set 3-6, Kreger responded in dominant fashion, shutting out Anna Schrock 6-0, 6-0 in the final two sets to secure Central Noble’s only point of the match. At No. 2 singles, Abby Pliett ran into a strong opponent in Rachel Hirschler, falling 1-6, 0-6. Katie Mains faced a similar challenge at No. 3 singles, coming up short 0-6, 0-6 against Brianna Moser. In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Whitney Weaver and Anna Scott competed hard but fell 1-6, 2-6 to Cori Chupp and Adrienne Chupp. The No. 2 doubles team of Ashley Hernandez Vega and Rheanne Sumagaysay also battled but were unable to come away with a win against Ellie Hirschler and Valeria Torres. The junior varsity team saw competitive efforts across the lineup but ultimately fell 0-7. McKynzie Carmien led the closest match at No. 1 singles, dropping a tight 4-6 decision. Molly Daniel (3-6), Addie Perlich (2-6), and Ella Miller (1-6) rounded out singles play. In doubles, Carmien and Daniel (1-6), Perlich and Mack Lortie (1-6), and Miller and Lortie (2-6) each fought hard in their matches. Despite the final scores, the Cougars showed determination throughout the lineup, highlighted by Kreger’s dominant comeback win. Central Noble will look to regroup and continue improving as the season moves forward.
